When you own a pet bird, eventually this kind of joke just writes itself.

I was visiting my parents’ house this past week, so Olivia got to spend some quality time with their miniature Schnauzer. The two of them have met many times before, but Olivia always seems more than a little taken aback by a dog that’s not much bigger than her. Definitely good for a laugh.

Finn would decidedly not make a very good detective. Especially not in the gritty world of classic film noir.

Livi had her annual vet check up yesterday, and came home with a clean bill of health

This seems as good an explanation as any for how Finn sheds so much

Olivia loves to use her water bowl to make soup…even though she isn’t very good at it.

Finnegan is a very quiet dog; usually the only time he barks at all is if someone comes over to visit or if he spots a delivery truck dropping something off. He doesn’t even make noise walking around the house, and we joke that he only has a collar so that we can hear the jingling of his tags to know where he is. Add to it that he manages to find places to hide all over the house, and it very quickly turns into Olympics-level hide-and-go-seek trying to find him sometimes.

Finnegan and Olivia would like to wish all our readers a happy Valentine’s Day!

Like any pet bird, Olivia does occasionally (i.e. frequently) damage or destroy things around the house. Sometimes her toys just aren’t enough to satisfy her destructive foraging instincts. And that’s OK. She never does it with malicious intent. I’m fairly certain that, in cases like this, she forgets that she even destroyed anything until she’s later confronted with the evidence.

Finnegan has never actually sneezed his speckles off…though I wouldn’t be surprised if it happened one of these days.

All my fellow dog parents will understand this problem all too well. When you have a dog who sheds - especially one who sheds as much as Finnegan - you just have to come to terms with the fact that you’ll never have a truly clean house ever again.

Climbing the curtains and then screaming for help seems to be Olivia’s preferred method of calling out for attention.

Finn smells like warm Fritos when he sleeps. Why? - we have absolutely no idea.

In case it wasn’t obvious, Olivia is very spoiled; she hates drinking from her designated water bowl and instead will beg to use a human cup for her water. She even has a distinct scream she makes when she’s thirsty and wants a drink.

Finnegan can be easily startled sometimes, with bizarre results.

Olivia doesn’t know how to shut up…except whenever we try to prove it to other people

Finnegan is already seven? How is that even possible?
